I borrowed my phone to a pregnant lady and she walked away with it.

I was waiting for my bus at the Titiwangsa bus stop yesterday after work. For those who don’t take the public transport, it’s a very busy and packed bus stop especially during peak hours. I got a place to sit, so I got myself seated and was on the look out for my bus.

After a few minutes, a pregnant lady was in front of me looking for a place to sit. Being a good citizen I am, I offered her my seat. She was pregnant and had very dry lips and also it’s the fasting month. So she sat and I sat beside her after someone got up. Then she started talking to me, let me tell you something… I HATE TALKING TO STRANGERS! I’m not one of those who talks to every Tom, Dick and Harry. But yesterday, I was being nice…. Well she was a pregnant lady who needed help :P

She asked, “Tumpang tanya yer, bas Ampang datang sini tak?” I said, “No, bas ini semua pergi Jln Ipoh, Kepong, Selayang…” Then she started being a little chatty, asking where I was going, where I was working bla bla bla. She said she was there waiting for a friend, she wanted to go back to Kuantan but she wasn’t sure where her friend was waiting for her. She asked me if my phone had credit, the moment I heard that, I was a little reluctant to hand her my phone, I paused for a moment and gave it a thought and wondered if I should lie to her that my battery is dead or ran out of credit but the very next minute my brain stopped functioning and my heart took over and I handed her my phone. She said she would miss call her friend so that her friend can call her back. But she didn’t hear from her so called friend so she asked if she could use my phone to call. I said ok :)

As she was talking to her “friend”, she stood up as though she was looking for this friend of hers and she started moving. She told me to take care of her bag and she said she will be back. I was quite shocked and I didn’t take my eyes of her. There was this lady sitting close to me, I looked at her and said, “Don’t tell me she is gonna take my phone and walk away!”. The lady was quite surprised and said, “That’s your phone?”, I explained to her and said she wanted to borrow my phone so I gave it to her. The lady was sweet enough and said you go after her, I’ll take care of her bag. I said thanks and ran after the preggie! The bus stop was quite crowed so I wasn’t very close to her, she got down the stairs and she turned back and saw me coming after her. She signaled to me to take care of her bag. I signaled back and asked her where she was going with my phone!!! She just turned and continued walking. I followed behind her then I lost her!!! No idea where she went, it’s quite a big place with a lot of people walking about. I searched and searched the whole bus station, no sign of her, preggie was MIA! I bumped into a friend at the bus stop, told her to call my phone while I tried calling from the public phone, no answer, phone was switched off. I went back to her bag and ransacked it. All she had in there was a pair of filthy jeans and two piece of clothing and a charger! I was at the bus stop for about an hour, she didn’t come back. Bye bye Norma Jean :( Yes, my phone was named Norma Jean…

The whole thing was my mistake. I should have never given her my phone, should have told her to go and use the public phone. Come to think of it, I don’t even think she was pregnant, it was probably a pillow. But the whole pregnant scam surely did work cause I totally fell for it :P

I believe she was quite desperate for money. So if stealing my phone and selling it to get a few hundred is going to help, I'm happy I could help :) but sorry to say after this I won’t be helping much.

Public transportation groupies Pt 1

The Pole Lovers
You find these idiot's both in buses and trains but its much more irratating when you are in the train, why i say this is because in buses you have alternatives, which are the seat handles. No idea what i'm talking about? Let me explain...what these so called "pole lovers" do is that they hog the whole pole by leaning theirs backs, occupying 99% of the pole not allowing you to hold on to it for support. Even better men with sweaty backs! EWWWW!! Gross!!! To all you a**h***s out there, the poles are there for a reason! Its for all, yes i repeat ALL the passengers whom are standing to hold on to it when the vehicle is on the move, in case you didn't notice, there's approx about 12 people to like about 4 poles (my very rough estimation), which means you are suppose to SHARE and not hog one pole to yourself!

I've concluded that all these people fall under this category are disabled because they don't have back bones, so for the sake of support they need like a whole pole!

The Seven Blunders of the World

The Seven Blunders of the World is a list that Mahatma Gandhi gave to his grandson during his last days. The seven blunders are:
  • Wealth without work
  • Pleasure without conscience
  • Knowledge without character
  • Commerce without morality
  • Science without humanity
  • Worship without sacrifice
  • Politics without principle

The flip-flops which don't flip or flop

Going topless is always a sure way to attract attention. But now, it seems, that rule also applies to feet. This summer's must-have fashion accessory is the topless flipflop - a sandal with no straps and no apparent way of staying on your foot.

The secret is the tacky water-based glue that keeps the foamy sole in place but does not come off on skin. In the two weeks since the sandals have gone on sale - under the slogan "flip-flops that don't flip or flop" - an astonishing 3,000 pairs have been sold, despite minimal publicity.

Fans of the flip-flops say they are perfect for those looking to avoid unsightly tan lines and blisters, or for anyone who enjoys the sensation of walking barefoot. "They're not likely to work for more than a season, but they are a fun holiday accessory or something to wear after the beauty salon when you've just had your nails done.

The flip-flops, which come in five designs, including beach, rainforest and aloha sunset, cost £12.50 each and are available in three sizes - small, medium and large.
Invented in the U.S. and made in China, they have already proved a hit in Australia and Canada, where thousands of pairs have been sold.

"If you'd just had a pedicure you could just put them straight on without smudging your nail polish."

Taken from the "Daily Mail" UK.

Although its interesting, I don't think its practical... imagine goin to the beach and having all the sand stuck to your flipflops because of the sticky surface... ewwwww gross and how uncomfortable. Unless the surface was engineered to only stick on skin... i doubt it :P

Me Armario

Last week of December I took 2 days off, to finish up my annual leaves. I was ordered to clean my cupboard by the Home Minister and only then I will get a new mattress as a token of appreciation :) well i did clean my cupboard but yet to get my gift :P ok back to the cupboard story, yes i had a lot of crap in there, not crap crap but more like things you don't use anymore but you just wanna keep them kinda crap. So this time i told myself everything I'm not using GOES!!! no sentiments, no excuses, no buts! So most of the stuff i got rid off was things that i don't wear anymore, big shirts ( i kept them coz i thought one day i can pass them down to my cousins but now its not in fashion anymore n my cousins are picky!), lots of tshirt (kept them coz it might be handy when i paint the hse), couple of casual pants (no idea why i kept them.. maybe also for painting :P), all my vests, about 16 of them, yes once upon a time i was quite trendy oh cmon it was the vanilla ice era!!, few dresses and bags. One of the bag was my school bag, carried it throughout high school from the very 1st day of school till my last day 5 yrs later... yes i stayed loyal to it or is it the other way around... oh whatever, its a black backpack n truly one of a kind coz i bought a spiderman patch / iron on thing n sewed it on the pocket in front. I was so into spiders n spiderman everything i owned had something on it that identifies with spiders :P so yea i kept this bag allllllllllllllll these yrs, which is bout 12 yrs now!!! the bag does look a little old now, still functional except for some ripped material on the inside but u can still use it but i don't use it, i just keep it, its sentimental.... that brings us back to the rule mentioned above, "everything I'm not using GOES!", no sentiments, no excuses, no buts! :( so i told myself i have 2 keep up to my words, if i keep this bag, then i will hand up keeping a lot other stuffs that needs to go as well, so i cannot make any exceptions. Trust me it was hard for me to part with this bag, i have sooooooo many memories...

So all the unwanted "goods" was put aside and i left it to my mom to sort which goes to the trash and which is going to be given away to whoever. She knows better, if you ask me, i will take all of them back and rearrange it in my cupboard :P So then that was done, mom was very happy, i eventually became happy coz now i can shop for new things :D lots of space in my cupboard! Then the holidays were over, my regular work routine started all over again.
One day as i was heading to work taking the bus at about 6am. Picked a seat and i sat, what i usually do is i will take a short nap bout 15mins, that's how long it takes me 2 get to my next transit so i got all comfy looking around just before i was about 2 shut my eyelids, i saw something... it was a kid his back was facing me, what attracted me was his backpack, looked very familiar, then i looked harder, i saw SPIDERMAN! the exact iron on spiderman patch!!! IT WAS MY BAG! THE BAG THE KID WAS CARRYING WAS MY BAG!!! i was excited, and very touched and i couldn't stop smiling to myself the whole bus ride. It was nice to see the bag still going strong after all these years... its nice to see someone out there is using it :)
So that day i got back home asked my mom what she did with all the stuff, she told me she gave some of it to the cleaner lady who works in my apartment so i guess she passed it around and the kid took the bag :)

Well i guess rather than me keeping the bag in the cupboard at least now someone is using it.
